Just caught up with Dracula Daily and it just tears me apart how desperately everyone loves Lucy, and how desperately everyone wants to save her, and how fully she loves everyone in thanks. From Mina running through half the town to rescue her from her sleep-walking, to Arthur giving all the blood he can and then some for her sake, to Dr Seward and Van Helsing giving blood themselves and keeping watch through the night, to her maids begging to keep watch over her, to her mother’s solicitude for her health, to the tenderness of her words in her diary. It’s all a labour of love and desperation, and it is devastating that the Count manages to snatch her away despite it all.

edwin is a better, stronger man than i, because i would be infinitely more dramatic and petty in his position when crystal enters the scene and charles starts paying attention to her. i would have comic!edwin’s reaction at least (accusing charles of choosing girls over him, storming off to solve cases on his own and deciding to do shit that will get him into trouble so that charles has to come rescue him, etc) but i’d probably take it a step further. i’d be like “i guess you want me to go back to hell then since i’m basically nothing to you 😒” and then i’d legitimately go back to hell JUST to see if he came after me. if he didn’t come after me then an eternity of torture in hell is nothing compared to the pain of rejection and being replaced. but i’m also incredibly mentally ill, so.

(james acaster once told a story about a christmas where he asked his parents for a spice girls cd. he found out whilst at the pool with his family that his sister was getting the cd instead of him. naturally, he tried to drown himself in the pool to make his parents feel guilty. that’s my vibe if i were ever in edwin’s position.)

I’m not usually a fan of sick Whump, but when Whumpee is running such a high fever that they’re shaking, taking uneven, shallow breaths, their skin chafing and burning against their clothes.

The moment Caretaker lays a palm on their forehead to check their fever and Whumpee sighs with relief because it’s so blessedly cold.

The moment Whumper cups Whumpee’s cheek with one hand and turns their head slightly, and Whumpee hates themself for leaning into it, but they just want the burning to stop.

hi so our last post died, and things have gotten kinda worse with the arrival of our other cat, my elder brothers homelessness, and the racial abuse getting hurled my way

we’re two disabled black lesbians trying to navigate employment discrimination and the American healthcare system, and tbh we’re losing. we originally had to split everything between 6 people, but due to my brothers getting evicted, everything we have (and everything we don’t) also goes to them

like last time, I’m still waiting for a doctor but recently they told me to call back in November. I’ve been calling since April. I believe the stress of everything is causing a flare up of something and I have no idea how to manage it, on top of my new seemingly random food sensitivities that keep popping up. I’m exhausted all the time and sometimes can’t even get out of bed.

on a brighter note, my girlfriend applied to five jobs, but their phone was shut off this morning so it’s urgent that they pay their bill.

we were able to get some necessities early last month due to peoples help, but we can’t make it stretch with 8 people. it’s a shitty situation all around and I wish we didn’t have to ask but until my gf can get a job and I can find out exactly what’s wrong with me, this is literally all we have.

How I Think Each Member of the Bad Batch Would Act if Sick/Injured

Hunter- If he’s sick, he’s basically an “if I ignore it maybe it’ll go away” kind of guy. However, I do think if he was injured he would tell someone since he wants to be responsible and lead by example. I feel like it would be hard for him as the oldest since he wants to be strong for his siblings, but ultimately wanting to set a good example wins out.

Wrecker- If he’s sick he will seek out care. Maybe he’ll be a little bit dramatic, but his brothers don’t mind since they get to care for him. I do think he would try and brush off injuries and minimize them, since he’s used to being the strongest and feels like he should be able to deal with it and take the pain. He had to be forced to get examined and take pain meds.

Tech- Would let the others know if he was sick or injured, but after dealing with it first himself. He’d be like “oh I have a fever but I took some medicine so it’s fine no need to fret” or would just appear in the cockpit wearing a wrist brace and his siblings would be like ??? but he’s all like “I fractured my radius so I am wearing this brace; I thought it was obvious from how I fell”.

Crosshair- Would try and deal with things on his own, both illnesses and injuries, and snap at his siblings when they try and help him. Similar to Hunter in thinking if he ignores it maybe it’ll go away. Omega is the only one who can convince him to get checked out, and occasionally so can Echo or Hunter. The only exception to this is if his stomach hurts; he will be complaining the whole time and everyone on the ship is going to know. His tummy hurts and he is not being brave about it.

Echo- Mostly tries to ignore his issues or just tough it out, since he figured he’s dealt with worse so he can deal with whatever this is, but will get help if it’s something that feels more serious. He will, however, accept help and comfort from Omega, no matter how minor his illness or injury is, since he knows it helps her feel useful. Plus he hates to see her worried.

Omega- Similar to Echo in trying to tough it out at first, but she does this out of not wanting to be a bother. However, when one of her brothers inevitably pick up on her not feeling good or being hurt, she will tell them what’s going on and allow them to fret over and care for her, even if she does get a little annoyed at their mother-henning.

my post about Danver’s racism hits so much harder knowing now that she had an Indigenous son and she lost him, implicitly to someone white and drunk like the woman she arrests in an early episode. She made a life with a man she loved and she had a baby with him - someone she likely felt growing inside her, that was born with her eyes, that looked nothing else like her but was her baby. Her special little boy. And then this town, out of nowhere, stole him from her in the most horrific way. So love nothing. Protect no one. Let nobody in. Until Navarro with all her problems and her heart and her belief and that connection which allows her to see Holden, to tell Liz what he said, comes crashing in. And everything changes.
